Fare-Free and Low-Cost ‘Age-Friendly’ Transportation Options

More than half of the communities enrolled in the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities are working on creating or improving age-friendly transportation programs and services. Here are some of the solutions already in place.

Measuring Transit Access — Fewer than 10 percent of Americans live within walking distance of reliable, high-quality transit that comes every 15 minutes — and 45 percent have no access to transit at all. Robotaxis Take to the Streets — The autonomous vehicle company Cruise is now running driverless taxis in San Francisco. “Operating robotaxis in SF has become a litmus test for business viability,” says the company’s CEO. “If it can work here, there’s little doubt it can work just about everywhere.” Source: CNBC ►
