The Parks and Public Spaces Collection

In 2018, AARP published Creating Parks and Public Spaces for People of All Ages, a free guide in partnership with 8 80 Cities and The Trust for Public Land. Two new titles by 8 80 Cities (pictured below) build on that publication by addressing additional issues that are common to many communities.

Winter is coming — and 8 80 Cities (which is based in Canada) knows that needn’t require a retreat indoors. The Winter Placemaking Guide provides solutions for how cold-weather places can make their outdoor public spaces welcoming and useful, regardless of how low the temperature falls.

Communities worldwide face a shortage of affordable housing. Addressing Homelessness in Parks: An Inclusive Practices Guide equips local leaders and advocates with the information they need to adopt compassionate, respectful and dignified responses to the use of public parks by unhoused people.
