No Parking Needed — To make it a bit easier for communities and developers to create needed housing, the state of California is eliminating parking mandates for residential and commercial developments located within half a mile of major transit stops. Source: Los Angeles Times ►

Aging in Place in Rural Places — The Rural Aging in Place Toolkit explains how community organizations, healthcare facilities, local governments, and other rural entities can help older adults and people with disabilities by collaborating and creatively using limited resources to provide needed services. AN OPPORTUNITY

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy are providing grants of up to $10 million for the creation of several Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Technical Assistance Centers to support underserved communities, including rural and remote communities. This opportunity is available to public and private universities and colleges, intertribal consortia, and nonprofit organizations. The deadline is November 1.
