Accessory dwelling units are small homes that exist on the same property lot as a single-family residence. ADUs can provide lower-cost housing options in a community; generate rental income for homeowners, enable older adults to remain in their current residence with live-in care, and support multigenerational living.
The page AARP.org/ADUs contains links to articles and resources about ADUs, including free print and downloadable publications from AARP Livable Communities, AARP Government Affairs and the AARP Public Policy Institute.
