Top Medicare Drug Prices Increase After Entering the Market

The list prices for the 25 brand-name drugs with the highest total Medicare Part B and Part D spending in 2023 (and not currently selected for Medicare drug price negotiation) have surged, increasing an average of 67% since they first entered the market. These price increases often exceeded the corresponding rate of general inflation, and prices have risen more the longer a product has been on the market.

Progress in Creating Livable Communities for People of All Ages

The AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities is driving change and improving livability for its members. A decade after the launch of the AARP Livability Index™ platform, a tool for measuring every U.S. community, a new Cornell and Penn State University study found that communities participating in the network not only improved their livability over the past 10 years but also achieved higher AARP Livability Index scores than non-member communities. The findings come alongside the network surpassing the 1,000-member milestone.

Workplace Emergency Savings Programs Appeal to Workers: Survey

A new survey commissioned by the AARP Public Policy Institute finds that roughly six in ten workers said they would be likely to enroll in a workplace emergency savings program, while an employer match on payroll contributions increased that interest to nine in ten workers. Top drivers of worker interest include convenience, the opportunity to grow savings, and a sense that enrolling would be “a good thing to do.”
