Adult Learners Need Support to Meet Their Education Goals

College enrollment rates have declined in recent years, even as half the occupations analyzed by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics for its Career Outlook require some type of post-secondary degree. For the nation to reap the economic benefits of an educated workforce, all sectors must find ways to support adult learners, including older students. Vaccination Rates Remain Stalled as COVID-19 Cases and Deaths Rise in Nursing Homes

Nursing home COVID-19 cases increased by more than 50 percent in the four weeks ending December 18, compared to the previous four weeks, according to the latest update to the AARP Nursing Home COVID-19 Dashboard. Deaths increased for the second month in a row, as primary vaccination rates continued declining and booster uptake stayed extremely low.

AARP, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Name Recipients of Health Equity Innovations Fund Award

The AARP Center for Health Equity through Nursing_^SM and the Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action, an initiative of AARP Foundation, AARP, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, have awarded more than $700,000 to 16 projects offering promising solutions aimed at eliminating structural inequities, particularly structural racism, within the nursing profession, health systems, or community. Some projects will also help improve access to care and services for those more disproportionately impacted by health disparities.
