New Medicare Part D Out-Of-Pocket Spending Cap Addresses High Prescription Drug Costs
The new $2,000 cap on annual out-of-pocket spending for Medicare Part D prescription drug plans that takes effect in January is a timely and important improvement as the cost burden of drugs soars among older adults. An AARP Public Policy Institute report details how the out-of-pocket cap will help a growing number of Part D enrollees over time, with 3.2 million people estimated to benefit in the first year. By 2029, the cap, which updates annually, will help 4.1 million enrollees.
